„When In Doubt, Flat-out!”
Here comes our slogan „When In Doubt, Flat-out!”, borrowed from Colin McRae’s motto „If In Doubt, Flat-Out!”. This is also some kind of wordplay. The phrase has two meanings in parallel – one in life and one in motorsport matter.
In fact, when we have doubts, we have to spend some time, stop for a moment, think about the things that we should do and make the right decision.
Our slogan takes us to the other pole. In case you doubt whether you will succeed – act! Take the risk without hesitation! Do not be afraid of failure!
When it comes to motorsport competitions, there is not enough time for reflection. The only option for the racer, if he passes through the corner and gets into bad situation, is to push the gas pedal down! The evolution could be achievement of a supreme result or a spectacular crash.
- Obey the Law
We strive to present the races as an appropriate venue for all “petrolheads”.
Many of us has begun racing in the streets. There were no race tracks or other proper racing events here in Bulgaria. There were a few racing championships, but they were a way too expensive for the common people. Nowadays the things are a bit different.
There is too much traffic on the open roads and car accidents happen all the time. It is extremely dangerous to race on public roads. Everyone should think about the consequences of such criminal behavior.
We are working hard to show all the young drivers, that racing is good, but only if done in a proper place. We encourage the enthusiast to go for a ride on a safe raceway or join some of the professional championships.
- Promoting motorsport
Promoting motorsport is one of our main tasks. We are trying to introduce the different championships in front of the wide audience and to show the people that everyone is welcomed – as spectacular or as a participant.
The following competitions are held in Bulgaria:
- Sprint rally
- Street Circuit
- Time attack
- Cross country rally
- Vehicles with alternative propulsion
- Competitions for people with disabilities
- Road Safety
Pay attention to road safety is our mission. All kind of motor races should be held in the appropriate places – race tracks, closed roads with relevant safety measures. Public roads are definitely not the right place for racing! Incidents are not missing even during well-organized events, but in most cases the damages are minimal.
- New faces in motorsport
Another goal we have set is attracting more young and unfamiliar drivers, to the big scene of the automobile sport in Bulgaria. Our task is to introduce them into motorsport. Everyone of them must become into real sportsman and obey all the rules, regulations and ethical norms.
We are open to youngsters and fans of automotive sports with ambitions and desire to achieve success.
- Race Events
A step in our development as a team is organizing automotive competitions. This is a difficult undertaking, especially for “recruits” like us, but with the aim of developing motor sport and providing a place for appearance of new faces alongside prominent motorists.
Inspired by the passion of motorsports and the rally legend Colin McRae, we managed to found Flat-Out Motorsports club in 2017. Ten years after Colin’s death, we decided to set a new beginning. A fresh start accompanied by great enthusiasm and hopefulness, with the only idea to contribute with our efforts for positive development of the Bulgarian motorsport.
The phrase “flat-out”, used as a name of our race club perfectly fits us, and also it is kind of wordplay. That is why we have chosen it.
Literally “flat-out” is used in two meanings: “as quickly as possible” and “as much effort as possible”. If we are talking about motorsport it has quite another meaning, and we are using “flat-out” to describe the most spectacular and breathtaking moments
*„As quickly as possible” – “Flat-Out Motorsports” is a club, competing in different races and what else if we do not go fast enough?
*„As much effort as possible” – this expresses our will to push ourselves to the limit, but not only on the race track, but also in our quest to follow and achieve the goals set ahead.
* „The spectacle” – magnet for spectators and fans. All the pilots’ performances driving on the edge – driving their racing cars to the limit and beyond. This is Flat-Out for the audience!
Despite the races, our team participates and takes general decisions in all meeting of the Bulgarian Federation Automobile Sports. We take the initiative and make up-to-date proposals for changes to federal regulations and regulations. We maintain good relations and work actively with the other clubs, members of BFAS, thus making an attempt to unite the guild and create more than anyone could achieve individually.
We also participate in charity activities related to motorsport in Bulgaria. We support former and current athletes in difficulty and in need of help. We have also contributed the construction of a monument in honor of pilot Valery Velikov in Shumen.
We consider as responsibility the safety of the children on the road. As parents and drivers, we understand that children are the most vulnerable. That is why we are planning this year to conduct outdoor lessons with subject “Prevention of child safety” in different schools on the territory of Varna Municipality. It would be a pleasure for us to meet the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Municipality of Varna and the medias in this cause.
Flat-Out Motorsports club is found in 2017. This is the first season for our team participating in professional motorsport events.
The final of the season was marked by the annual awards of the Bulgarian Federation Automobile Sports. Flat-Out Motorsports club was awarded as a team vice-champion in the Street circuit championship for 2017.
Flat-Out Motorsports club also ranked sixth in the Hill climb championship, competing against other 25 racing teams.
This was our “happy end” of an extremely hard racing season. The team competitors took part in various championships – Rally, Street circuit, Hill climb, Drag racing, and won many awards.
During this first season we made so many friends and this is our biggest prize along with all the unforgettable moments.
In 2019, we focused on the national rally championship. In the very first race of the season – “Rally Bulgaria”, which was round of the European Championship, after an exceptional race, our team finished in second place. Subsequently, after the second ERT round – “Rally Monbat Sliven”, we consolidated our place in the team standings – again, our crews did perfectly and brought “Flat-Out” to second place.
Season 2019 finished with the annual awards of the Automobile Federation of Bulgaria. During the ceremony, “Flat-Out” was awarded with the trophy in the national rally championship.
In 2020 “Flat-Out” was crowned with success in the Gimkhana championship, with third place among the teams in the annual ranking of the Automobile Federation of Bulgaria.
Every kind of sport, especially the motorsport, depends on media. Media plays an important role in promoting and building the image of team and the racers in society. For a “young” team like Flat-Out Motorsports, media support is particularly important. Thanks to the media, people are informed about our participations and achievements. This is another opportunity to win new followers and fans for our club as well as for automotive sports in Bulgaria.
